Chrome Culture Art Show
The Arts Alliance of Haverstraw is hosting a show titled "Chrome Culture" which features a variety of gifted artists whose work encompasses the art and inspiration of classic cars and motorcycles.

Curator Michele Miller has graciously offered to collect donations to benefit Meals on Wheels during the show. Please see the attached link for details.

Harvest Moon Gala Honoring Jack Holt and Patricia Zugibe
Meals on Wheels Programs and Services of Rockland will celebrate a “Third of a Century of Caring” at the Agency’s annual Harvest Moon Gala/Silent Auction on Saturday, November 1 at 6:30 p.m. at Dellwood Country Club. The Agency is recognizing the support and generosity of Jack Holt and Patricia Zugibe.

Tickets are $200 per person. Corporate tables (10 guests per table) are $2000. The dinner is black tie.

On Sunday, November 9th at 9 a.m. we are holding our 1st Annual Turkey Trot at Rockland Lake, North Entrance to raise money for the Homebound Meal Delivery Program so that all of Rockland’s seniors have a bountiful Thanksgiving.

Using Microsoft Word, you will hone your word processing skills. This course includes typing and editing simple documents, setting margins and tabs, and working with tables, columns, headers and footers. You will learn to format paragraphs, insert clipart, and create bulleted or numbered lists and how to print a document. At the end of this course you will be able to create letters, envelopes and other documents.

Prerequisite: Completion of the Intro course (above) or equivalent experience, and access to a personal computer.

(How to use the Operating System)

This course covers basic Windows procedures, including various ways of opening files and launching programs and how to create new folders. Using Microsoft Excel, you will learn how to design spreadsheets, how to define and format columns and rows, how to enter column headings and row descriptions and how to work with formulas to calculate results. You will learn how to incorporate a table or a chart into a word documents and how to prepare charts for presentations.

Using Family Tree Maker, you will learn to install your genealogy software and how to start a family file. You will gain experience entering information, showing relationships, adding pictures and sound and printing reports. An important aspect is the creation of GEDCOM files. Online searches of standard and genealogy sources include the Social Security Death Index, Ellis Island ship and manifest list, State and Federal census data, the Family History Center (Mormon Church), area specific mailing lists and other sources.

You will learn how to set up accounts and categories, and manage your checking, savings, and credit card and investment accounts. In addition you will learn how to set up a budget, how to create reports and graphs, and how to use Quicken on the web.
